Pere Marquette River Fishing Report- September 5th

Nothing but good to report this week.  Even without any significant rain to raise the very low PM, a little cloudy weather with fronts passing through has been enough to kick the king salmon migration into high gear.  They started coming late last week and haven’t stopped.

Steve went for a walk above Walhalla a few days ago and said, “for over an hour there was never a time when there weren’t salmon pushing upstream.”

For this season my best bait is nothing new, bright ThunderSticks like firetiger.  Though Steve is working on a new foam salmon streamer that he’s pretty excited about, more on that later.

There was a great sunrise the other morning and it might have looked something like this one from last year.  Sorry, my camera is still down.
