Kevin’s been reworking the lodging, dining and nightlife pages over on the Indigo Guide Service website and he just put up a new page on Jamesport Brewing Company. Jamesport is the only brewpub between Grand Rapids and Traverse City and we’re glad to have it here in Ludington. For beer geeks, Jamesport is pretty cool because they always have a couple semi-obscure session beer styles on draft like Altbier, Kolsch and Dortmunder. They don’t make a lot of the “extreme” beers that are popular these days, but their Scotch ale is a classic heavy hitter.
Their food is very good and the atmosphere is too, and their slogan is pretty smart: “Helping Michgan’s economy one beer at a time.” They are in an older building in downtown Ludington with a gargantuan front door. Stop by and grab a pint and some food next time you’re up this way. This is a picture of their Altbier and Kolsch. Damn tasty.
