Pere Marquette fishing report- Sept. 9th

There are decent numbers of fish in the lower river and they are taking Thundersticks and swiping at, and sometimes even taking, flies. The lower river has cleared up a lot over the last couple days even though we’re still 40cfs above average. Water temp is 57 degrees which means that most fish fight to the bitter end, through the photo-op, out of your hands, and right back down into their holds flipping you the fin on the way. It is awesome to see a really pissed off king swim back strongly into the dark water, sort of looking over his shoulder wondering what the hell just happened.

Picked up this nicely colored buck yesterday and Kevin lost a good fish swinging flies on the two hander. Pretty good few hours on the river. And by fishing from 10am-2pm we might have missed the best fishing, but we also missed most of the crowds.
