Pere Marquette Fishing Report- August 7th

Steve sends the following:

The Pere Marquette River is fishing fairly well for browns but it is mainly a night bite with surface waking flies like the foam or deer hair mice, gurglers or similar flies.  Hopper fishing has been fair on breezy days, with most of the action happening from Green Cottage to Walhalla.

Pike fishing from Walhalla to Scottville is still pretty good with body baits like Rapalas or big white steamers.

The king salmon migration has started with a few fish showing up here and there but the big numbers aren’t here quite yet.   Your best chance would be to target spring holes and deep holding water above Walhalla.  The trollers on Pere Marquette Lake have started catching some fish, so more should be on the way.
