Steve passes along the following:
Cameron Mortenson from the Fiberglass Manifesto, the guru of fiberglass, joined me on the Pere Marquette River for a couple days of steelhead fishing. Fiberglass rods in hand and one rod in particular, the Scott Fiberhammer. A fiberglass spey rod that bends half way to hell and back and was the big reason Cameron was here. To catch his first Steelhead on the swing.
Monday found us in a down pour but the fishing was good. After netting a few fish with nymph/egg combos we made the switch to swinging streamers. Cameron brought the hammer down on a couple gorgeous steelhead.
Tuesday we were joined by his father, a beginner to fly fishing but fortunately an extremely fast learner. Cameron’s dad landed several steelhead and a big brown.
It was a great couple of days fishing with two great guys. The trip was topped off with Cameron’s first two swung steelhead and his dad’s first steelhead.
You can see Cameron’s post about the trip here.
