I was at the Mitten Bar the other day and someone overheard me talking about how large the kings are this year so he whipped out his phone and showed me a picture of an absolutely monstrous 28.7lb coho salmon caught off Frankfort MI in the Benzie Frenzy tournament last week. Ludington based Team Hambone (they don’t appear to have a website) caught this ridiculous fish, apparently the largest coho caught on the Michigan side of Lake Michigan since 1989.
A 28 pound coho? In Michigan? Holy crap. It’s not just the kings that are huge this year.
