Pere Marquette fishing report – Dec 12th

We got a good bit of snow here on the Pere Marquette last week but on Friday and Saturday things warmed up into the mid 30s and the fishing on the lower river was good.  Mike was up from Chicago and we swung weighted black and pink streamers on the two hander with about 12′ of T-14.  Most fish came on the swing or at hang down, but one needed a couple strips to get motivated.

We’re getting hammered right now with snow and high winds and some cold weather is on the way.  The lower river should be frozen solid in the next couple days which means the only option will be moving up into the middle or upper river.  Unfortunately, the middle and upper river are low and very clear, and while there are good numbers of steelhead throughout, they are very spooky.  Sneak up on holes and make as delicate a presentation as possible.
