Steelhead storm

Ludington has been getting battered with gusts to 70mph. We’ve received a good amount of rain over the past several days and the river is up. Finally. And with this brutal weather the steelhead have come. The water temps are fairly high for this time of year, in the low to mid 50s, and this means that when you hook into one of these absolutely chrome rockets they go nuts. Two days ago, Kevin had one jump 13 times before finally throwing the hook.

We’ve been enjoying some fabulous steelhead fishing. It should only last for a few more days. Hopefully, though, we continue to have a very wet fall.

Kevin sends along these awesome pictures from Ludington.
