Carp: The Smartest Fish a Fly Angler Can Chase

Well that is what Kirk Deeter from Field & Stream’s Fly Talk is saying and you know what, I agree.  Trout, bass and most other fish are moody.  They oscillate between closed mouth sulking to ravenously grabbing everything like it was their last meal.

When these other fish are on the bite it becomes easy but carp are never easy.  As I often say, it takes the right cast, presentation and fly choice before you have any chance with a carp.  With almost every other fish, if you simply flop something out there over and over, eventually you’ll catch something.

Here is a link to Kirk’s article.
