Great Lakes Echo had a short piece recently about Outside Magazine’s 21 best summer escapes for under $500. With our new off season rates for river trips starting June 1st and running through August 10th, I suppose we should probably be on that list as well.
While big salmon, steelhead and May trout fishing get most of the press here in Michigan, the summer months offer some fantastic trout opportunities including our massive Hex hatch and mousing for big browns. Why not throw big streamers for pike in the afternoon and then go after the big trout at night? Sounds like a win win to me.
Indigo’s new off season rate is $280 for a full day with two anglers. Lunch, NA drinks and all tackle included. Spend a day with a guide and then walk in the next day for a few hours before heading home. Two nights lodging $100, food $100, guided day of fishing $280 and you still have money to spend on gas or maybe (probably) a six pack of Founders.
