We had a blast at the Greater Cincinnati Fly Show this weekend. The Buckeye United Fly Fishers put on an awesome show. Their club and the visiting Northern Kentucky Fly Fishers are not only huge, but full of people obviously passionate about the sport. The fly fishing community in the Cincinnati area is strong and we’ll be featuring a couple folks we met and products we saw there over the coming weeks including Cincinnati carp guru Bobby Gray and some cool two handed bamboo rods from Jerry Drake.
In addition to the awesome show we also visited Hofbrauhaus Newport for some very good Dunkel lagers, one liter at a time, and some fried, roasted and sausaged pork. Sure it made getting up for the show on Saturday morning a little more difficult than it had to be, but it was worth it.
Heading to Cincinnati was also worth missing a window of nice weather here on the Pere Marquette. Looks like it will be back to shelf ice and numb fingers by mid week, but another warm up is looming for the weekend.
