Pere Marquette River Fishing Report– August 28th

Friday, August 28th, 2015

Steve sends the following:

The salmon bite has been good with most people reporting a few fish caught for a days fishing. Better yet the fishing pressure, so far anyway, has been light.

Steve found a couple fish in most holes while fishing the middle of the PM. Throwing spinners they were able to get into a couple nice salmon and one steelhead.

The first part of this week has been cool and wet, so hopefully more salmon will be on the way.

Michigan Out Of Doors

Friday, October 18th, 2013

A while back Michigan Out of Doors Television headed over to hit the river with Steve. It was the peak of the salmon season and they were lucky enough to put a few in the net.

Keep an eye on your local public station so you can see the show.

Austin’s Salmon Fly

Thursday, October 10th, 2013

This is a pattern that Austin had very good luck with this fall. He said that it fished well both on the swing or drifted on a tandem egg rig. Something about the blue and white really seemed to piss them off.

Hook- TMC 5263, size 4.
Body- One white and one blue marabou palmered.
Head- One mallard flank.

Pere Marquette Fishing Report- October 7th

Monday, October 7th, 2013

The fishing remains good with spawning salmon and even enough pre-spawn fish in the holes to target. While rains over the weekend didn’t seem to be enough to bring up water levels they did add a little color.

The rains should also add another batch of salmon and hopefully our first big push of steelhead. There are almost enough steelhead around now to make for a fun day but we could use a few more.

Steve sends the picture below of a big king that tipped the scale at just over 31 pounds.

Fly fishing for salmon on the Pere Marquette River, Muskegon River and Manistee River.
