Jim Schramm Added to River Champions List

Sunday, March 16th, 2014

My good friend Jim Schramm has been added to the River Champions list by the organization American Rivers. Jim is one of only 20 people on this elite list including Former President Jimmy Carter and Patagonia’s CEO Yvon Chouinard.

I’ve spend countless hours in meetings watching Jim tirelessly fight for our resources and rights. Thank you Jim for all the work you do for all of us and congratulations on being added to the American Rivers list.

Below is the only picture I had of Jim, from a trip back in 2009 with our friend Paul. Unfortunately for Jim he is not the one holding the steelhead.

West River Artwork

Tuesday, November 12th, 2013

Our friend Ben West is having his fly fishing art featured at King Family Vineyards, located west of Charlottesville Virginia. Ben’s art will be on display until December 31st.

The pictures look great, I wish I could visit the vineyard to see his collection in person. I have my credit card all ready for an art purchase but I can’t find a carp painting?

Friday Quickie, Scientific Anglers Pro Staff

Friday, September 27th, 2013

Our scarecrow is now sporting an old Scientific Anglers hat. Hawks were getting our chickens so we put up a scarecrow. Hard to tell from the picture but we even gave her boobs, you have to be realistic when your dealing with hawks.

It’s been several weeks and no more hawks, I think it’s the hat and boob combination that did the trick.

Personalized Watercolor

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

At a show a few months back I ran into Jim Tingey, an artist who offers something unique.  Jim can personalize one of his stock prints or with a good photo of your prized catch, Jim will even create a personalized watercolor.  This is a really cool alternative to traditional taxidermy or even a fiberglass reproduction.

Jim asked me for one of the flies I was tying and returned a while later with the watercolor pictured below.

You can see samples of Jim’s work and get more information from his web site Catch and Release Artwork.
