Beaver Island fishing report -July 18th

Kevin and Steve are up on the islands for another couple weeks and have a few openings if you wanted to squeeze in a last minute trip. And judging from Kevin’s report, looks like a good time to do so.

The curse of the mayfly has been broken in a big way here on the island. Steve and I thought that the carp spawn and the corresponding big numbers that we associate with the spawn had slipped away because of the wacky cold summer. But lo and behold, we have been covered in carp over the past several days experiencing the best fishing of the season.

I just finished two days of having so many tailing fish (hundreds) that we would only cover a few hundred yards of water in a day. We’d pick up and move a couple times each day, but only for a change of scenery. The fishing has been excellent.
