Pere Marquette River Fishing Report- January 9th

With the bitter cold and snow across the Midwest not many people, or at least no one I’ve heard of, have fished the PM for a week or more.  Walt tried last Saturday in the Maple Leaf area but there was too much shelf ice and slush to even get the fly in the river.

The river pictures below are from this morning at Upper Branch Bridge and the other is of me making soup after I decided it was a better idea than fishing.

It looks like the weather is going to turn warmer, so maybe the shelf ice will recede enough to make fishing possible.
