Pere Marquette River Fishing Report- August 12th

Steve sends the following:

King salmon are starting to show up over the last few days and we have been out scouting different stretches. We found there to be decent numbers from Walhalla to lower Scottville.

The fish have been somewhat lazy with plenty of follows but few takers. On a trip last week we were able to get a couple fish to grab the lure and landed one.  This made for the first salmon of the year.

This year salmon are running big and with it being early, they are fighting hard. Out of the two from the other day, one spooled us and the other damn near did! Now’s the time to get into some great action and beat the crowds.

Below are some of Steve’s top baits and colors so far this year.
