Our friend Gary loves fishing for snook. His stories make me want to get down to Florida more than ever. Gary fishes his poppers for snook primarily, the occasional tarpon, and of course, being an Indiana guy, plenty of smallmouth.
Gary developed a set of wooden jigs which permit easy, consistent, and precise construction of foam poppers. They are available for sale from River Road Creations. Even if you don’t use Gary’s jigs, the video below has a lot of cool techniques that are applicable when tying many different patterns. Check it out.
